Elsie doesn't sleep in the big bed

I've been trying to get Elsie used to sleeping in her new bed. The rules are:

• must wear her sleep sack
• no toys
• no playing
• lie down
• close eyes
• sleep

If she breaks the rules she goes in her cot.  Today I left her to settle then when I went to check I found that she had taken Olive's Snowsuit and was trying to put it on. She'd done a pretty good job! But she still ended up in the cot!

Today at lunch Elsie made a shape out of ham then declared it....a Christmas Tree!
Then she ate it. Delicious!

Elsie Sleeps in a Proper Bed

Today we picked up the two wee beds I had bought from Royal Tunbridge Wells. They are delightful and Elsie was very excited! We had our first BBQ of the season today. Lovely weather. Delectable company. At Simon and Deanna's. Just lovely.

London Zoo

Today we all went to the London Zoo. We met Kara, Jonson, Romey, Kylie, Scott and Bump for the day. We started off at the Gorillas where Elsie was quite taken with a bronze sculpture of a Gorilla. I think she thought that was it. We entered the actual enclosure viewing area and immediately saw some action as a huge male swung along a rope right in front of the window where Elsie was standing. You should have seen her face!

Next we headed to the Tigers...all of a sudden Elsie wasn't so keen to see the tigers. I don't think she had realised at all that the animals would be alive. The new tiger enclosure was lovely and a huge tiger was pacing back and forth right in front of the window where we were standing. Awesome and all before 10:30am!

The rest of the day was lovely. We were having so much fun with monkeys, penguins, hippos, butterflies, meerkats, armadillos, camels, giraffes...that we forgot to take many pictures. These pictures were taken right at the end of the day at the giraffes.

Elsie performs for the camera

Today at lunch time I was taking some photos of Olive eating when Elsie said "Do Elsie, do Elsie!" and started posing for the camera. It's the first time she's done that...she's always wanted to HAVE the camera previously. Strike a pose!

Natural History Museum

Today we went to the Natural History Museum with Kara and Romey. Elsie was convinced that we were going to see Crocodiles - and luckily Kara did manage to find some photos of crocodiles. Phew! The dinosaurs were amazing - there were ?robotic 3D dinosaurs including a life size T-Rex that Elsie thought was very scary!

Afterwards we went to the restuarant and had Pizza and Ice-cream!

Elsie Jumps!

With two feet! Not sure if this video captures the two footed jump but this was the moment it occurred. After MONTHS of a weirdy gallopy thing we finally have proper jumping. Olive thought it was most entertaining too.

Peppa Pig Party

Today we went to a Peppa Pig Party! Elsie was invited to Emelia's 3rd Birthday Party at the Tooting Leisure Centre. Emelia attends creche with Elsie (Elsie and Olive go for one hour on Monday and Thursdays). Emelia's mum is my spin instructor! There was party food, face painting, bouncy castle, and a real life Peppa Pig! Elsie was super excited.

Smokey Eyes

Donna and I attended a Mac make up class today where we learnt to do smokey eyes..as modeled below by one of our classmates. Our eyes didn't look quite like this...

Afterwards we had a nice drink together and then we all converged at Forster House for a very relaxing and precious family meal.

Babycado

Olive is loving the avocado at the moment. I am convinced that avocado = sleep. Elsie calls it "Baby-cado".

Birthday Treats

Today I was treated to a massage for my birthday. Joel was responsible for getting the girls up and out the door. All I had to do was to get myself up (oh and breastfeed). Afterwards, I met Joel and the girls at a cafe for family breakfast. It was lovely...Joel looks rather tired though....

May Day

So today was my 37th birthday.

I had such a lovely day. The sun shone and I got to spend it with my girls.  Lucky lady.
Elsie and I made banana fairy cakes which we iced this morning with lemon icing and sprinkles. We took these to our regular children's centre to celebrate my birthday. All the children sang me happy birthday at circle time. Aww!

Elsie had a great time playing outside. I love this photo of her tearing around on the trike wearing snorkeling goggles and carrying a torch.

Elsie and I had a mini party at home for lunch .  we had crisp and marmite sandwiches on white bread.  Else had a small packet of Haribo sweets which she rapidly dispensed with.  I looked up just as she popped the last jelly heart into her mouth. "Aww no Haribo for mummy?" I laughed.  She gave me a cheeky look like "miiine!" Then paused, thought about it, retrieved the half masticated sweet from her mouth, bit it accurately in half and gave it to me.  Shucks!

Olive eats

Olive's eating is going really well.  I started out what I thought would be first steps into tastes and textures and it's turned into proper eating already!

I've been making her a delicious slurry of ground rice, formula and stewed fruit (apples, pears, blueberries tried so far) and she's eating about half a jar. Maybe nearly a whole jar tonight.  She's still sticking her tongue out and it's a bit of a trick to actually get the food into her mouth but she wants it! She's swallowing it all too...not spitting it out.  And her nappies are changing.  Enough about that.  So it looks like we're into solids...

Finger food has so far consisted of some penned, chicken breast (loved it) and slices of ripe pear (ditto).
The poor little thing doesn't have the dexterity to even grab food off the high chair tray yet she's so little so I have to hold it for her. And she can hardly sit up in the high chair too - I have to wedge her in with muslins.  But there's no doubt she's into it.

So far we've had good sleep results since giving solids.  The first two nights she slept from 7pm till 4am.  Then the next night I woke her and gave her a dream feed at 11pm and she then slept until 6:30am.  All good.  Last night she regressed to her old tricks though waking at 1am and 6:30am. We'll see what happens tonight!
